Children and Youth

School-aged children are encouraged to attend worship, and are welcome to use an activity bag during the service.  Youth in 6th through 12th grades have Sunday School following worship, discussing various topics of interest.

Faith Dialogues

Faith Dialogues is a discussion class that meets weekly in the Chapel to discuss different ways our faith impacts our daily lives. Recent classes have read and discussed the Book of Joy and Religion for Atheists; participated in a Lenten devotional entitled Were You There?; and viewed the Frontline series From Jesus to Christ

During October 2019, we will view and discuss Trigger: The Ripple Effect of Gun Violence, a video produced by PC-USA. "It is a story told from the perspective of those called daily to respond to this ongoing tragedy. The documentary frames gun violence as both a disaster and a public health issue, and addresses the critical issue of gun violence prevention by moving the conversation away from the polarizing extremes that have long dominated the debate and lifting up the voice and experiences of those who seek common ground and a new way forward” (description from the film’s website). Each Sunday, we will view and discuss a portion of the video. Please join us for this important topic.

Bible Study

Sunday morning:  This small group Bible study meets weekly in the Parlor and focuses on one book of the Bible at a time for in-depth reading and study,  New attendees are always welcomed.

Wednesday at 3:30:  Pastor Kerry will lead a weekly Bible study beginning October 23, to be held in the Conference Room.

Camp Carew

Each summer, many of our children and youth attend Camp Carew. Located just south of Carbondale on Little Grassy Lake, Camp Carew is a place for children and youth to experience the Christian faith in community. Through group living in the small unit, campers and leaders are challenged to work, plan, play, study, sing, and worship together. Registration information is available on the Camp Carew website. Scholarships are available to help offset the cost of going to camp; click here for the scholarship application, which is due April 27, 2020.

Advent and Lenten Devotional Materials

During the seasons of Advent and Lent, the Faith Development ministry offers suggestions for devotional materials to be used individually at home or incorporated into Faith Dialogues classes.  Often these materials are available for purchase from the church at a nominal cost.  Online resources are available here.
